Reports are in from all Quads on Sunday's Christmas caroling event. The consensus is that we brought the church to people who couldn't come to the church. Each Quad group reported that they spent more time ministering to people in personal ways than they had expected or planned. What's Girlfriends? It's a social group for single women that meets once a month to encourage and establish relationships among the single women of OBCC. On Saturday, a huge group from Awana and OBCC spent the day at the Feed My Starving Children facility in Aurora. They assembled 3348 bags of food (93 boxes) to be shipped to one of 50 countries around the world. Those boxes will provide 20,088 nutritious meals. Joe Beles and his crew have been working all week to finish the roofing project at the Mission House. Last Saturday some of the ladies of OBCC attended a "Girls' Night Out" at Glazed Expressions in Downers Grove. We spent time painting ceramics, noshing, and getting to know each other a little better. It's official! Last year's car show was such a success that we're doing it again. The Oak Brook Cruise Cool Car & Cycle Show is schedule for Saturday, September 27th, from 1:00-5:00pm (rain date is Saturday, October 4th). In spite of last Wednesday's rain, there was a large turnout for 365's end of summer event. Over 100 Jr. & Sr. Highers showed up for an evening of food, fun, games, music and more. Even though attendance was lighter than expected, Women's & Men's Ministries are calling Date Night on the Lawn a success. While some people assumed the event was cancelled due to rain earlier in the day, some couples did show up for a lovely evening. Deb Hansen reports that 30 people attended the Homeschoolers' Ice Cream Social on Sunday evening. With representation from preschool through high school, the famlies discussed cirrculum choices and future planning for joint field trips and outings.
